If you have a cat and you live in a flat, you already know the problem. You want to open the windows for air, but you cannot fully trust your cat near an open ledge.
Window netting for cats solves that. It is a mesh screen fitted over your window opening. Air still comes through. Your cat cannot get out.
Why Cats Need Extra Window Protection
Cats are curious. In a high-floor HDB flat or condo, one open window is all it takes.
In the first year of the new pet rules, NParks received 61 reports of alleged falls from height. That period ran from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025. Fifty-five involved cats. NParks later confirmed 21 cases and acted against every owner.
Under the Cat Management Framework, you must keep your cat in a safe environment. You must take reasonable steps to protect it from hazards. NParks names meshes, grilles, screens and other barriers among those steps.
The same framework made licensing compulsory. From 1 September 2026, it is an offence to keep an unlicensed cat. The Code of Animal Welfare for Pet Owners sets out what else is expected of you.
Grilles alone often do not help. The gaps between the bars are usually wide enough for a cat to squeeze through. Cat proofing windows properly means covering the whole opening, not just the bars.
What Is Window Netting for Cats?
Window netting for cats is a mesh panel fitted to your window opening. The frame is made to your window’s exact size. The mesh is fine enough to keep insects out. It is strong enough to hold your cat back.
Your window still opens and closes as usual. Cat mesh for windows is an addition to your existing window, not a replacement. Nothing about the window itself is modified.
Not every screen type works as window mesh for cats. A magnetic mesh screen is held on by permanent magnets and high-bond adhesive tape. However, magnetic screens cannot take weight so it is not an option for cats. Your choice is Sliding Cat Mesh, Swing Cat Mesh or Retractable Cat Mesh.
Cat Mesh for Windows vs Normal Mesh
Both keep mosquitoes, flies, lizards and cockroaches out. The difference shows when your cat scratches or jumps at it.
Fibreglass is the standard insect mesh. It is very thin, cannot withstand anything sharp and gives way to claws, so it is not recommended for cat owners. Mesh for cats is a different build altogether.
It is made to take scratches and weight. Mozziefy offers three mesh materials in total. Two of them are used in the cat mesh for windows range:
-
316 Stainless Steel, used in Swing Cat Mesh and Sliding Cat Mesh.
It resists scratches, rust and corrosion.
-
Heavy-duty polyester, used in Retractable Cat Mesh and also Sliding Cat Mesh.
It is tear-resistant and scratch-proof, and it cannot rust at all.
Both are built to hold a full-grown cat. Which one suits you depends on your window type and how active your cat is. If your cat scratches a lot, ask about 316 Stainless Steel.
Where Cat Netting Can Be Installed
Cat netting in Singapore has to work around grilles, tracks and ledges that differ from block to block. Every opening is measured before anything is made. Common window types where cat meshes can be installed include:
- Casement windows
- Sliding windows
- Windows with metal grilles and invisible grilles
- Bi-fold panel windows
- Single panel and top hung windows
- Balconies, outdoor dining areas and backyards
Cat mesh is not limited to windows. A sliding door screen takes heavy-duty polyester or 316 Stainless Steel mesh, and a retractable door screen takes heavy-duty polyester. The 2-in-1 Blinds+Mesh door pairs a sunshade or blackout blind with the same heavy-duty polyester mesh. Swing door screens can be made as well, as a more customised build. Door meshes usually go on sliding doors leading to balconies or patios, on single swing doors and on outdoor spaces.
If your windows already have grilles, curtains or blinds, that is generally not a problem. Cat mesh for windows is measured around them during the on-site visit.

What Makes Mesh Suitable for Cats?
Not everything sold as window mesh for cats is built to hold one. Cat proofing windows works only if the panel, the frame and the lock all hold.
Safety and durability checks
- A mesh that takes scratches without laddering
- A frame that tolerates weight, because your cat will lean its full body on the panel
- Lock features that keep the mesh firmly in place
- Rust and corrosion resistance
- A realistic lifespan
Cat-Proofing Windows Without Major Renovation
Cat proofing windows does not have to mean renovation work. You might expect a weekend of mess. It rarely comes to that. Every panel is custom-fitted to the existing opening, so your window is never altered. That is how cat netting in Singapore is normally fitted.
Three systems work as window mesh for cats:
-
Sliding Cat Mesh
In 316 Stainless Steel or heavy-duty polyester, gliding sideways on a slim track. Best for windows you open and close often, such as the kitchen or the service yard. Locks are available. 3-year warranty (mesh excluded).
-
Swing Cat Mesh
Casement panel that swings inwards, made with 316 Stainless Steel mesh. It seals the opening completely. Suits casement, sliding, single panel and top hung windows. 2-year warranty (mesh excluded).
-
Retractable Cat Mesh
Heavy-duty polyester on a roller. Rolls away completely when not in use, leaving no visible frames or bars. 1 to 3 years warranty (mesh excluded).
Every warranty covers installation, manufacturing and mechanism defects. Wear and tear, accidental damage and the mesh itself are not covered.
Whether drilling is needed depends on the screen type and the condition of your window. If you would rather not have drilling, inform the team early, and they will recommend something that works around it.

When to Choose Custom Cat Mesh
Cat netting Singapore is rarely a standard size. To avoid gaps and weak points, have a professional assess your home and recommend the cat mesh that suits your windows.
For custom-made cat mesh, prices are typically charged per square foot with a minimum price per mesh, plus 9% GST. Measurement and installation are both included in the quoted price.
On-site measurement is free. You only pay a deposit once you have confirmed the final quotation. Payment is 50% deposit to confirm and 50% after installation, by PayNow, PayLah or bank transfer.
You can also see the meshes in person. The showroom at One Commonwealth is by appointment, Monday to Saturday.
Send photos and rough measurements of your windows over WhatsApp for an estimated quotation. WhatsApp +65 6034 9462 or ask Mozziefy about suitable cat mesh for your windows.
